I didn’t plan on writing anything on Prostate Health right away, but I ran across an article about MSM and prostate cancer–and wanted to just share an excerpt right away.  I have a relative who has been taking MSM for a few months now, he is middle aged and was concerned about prostate health. He initially began taking MSM for overall health benefits, and was pleasantly surprised to find out that MSM has a few EXTRA ADDED BENEFITS FOR MEN ONLY, including reducing the number of times you have to urinate.

Here is what I found today at:

The number of men with a swollen prostate and or prostate cancer is growing just as fast as women with breast and uterine cancers. Of course part of the problem results from the industrial hormones that fit estrogen receptor sites. Other causes can range from acidity, viral and bacterial infections, yeast, chemical exposure, in our food and the air we breath, neuromuscular function (tension or physical injury), Uric Acid disorder, Prostate Stones, Urethral Stricture, Tumor, Cancer, BPH (Benign Prostate Hyperplasia – non-cancerous growth of the prostate), food allergy all the way to specific nutrient deficiencies. The prostate has almost as many estrogen receptor sites as it does testosterone. Once they are filled, with these petrochemicals, that mimic estrogens, the prostate begins to swell and may eventually turn to cancer.

A swollen prostate is a real problem with many symptoms ranging from inability to begin urination, pain during urination, dribbling after urination, feeling as if you still need to urinate long after urination, erectile dysfunction, and low or loss of sex drive. Symptoms can range from barely noticeable too unbearable. Today’s “standard American diet” (SAD) is one of the biggest parts of the problem. We simply don’t eat a healthy diet. Those who strive to eat a lot of raw foods, drink plenty of water and get plenty of exercise are generally older before their symptoms begin. My belief is that it should not happen at all for the majority.

Today’s knowledge about nutritional supplementation allows us, to a greater degree than ever before, to target specific parts of the body. If your liver is toxic and as a result malfunctioning we know that IP-6 with Milk Thistle will help detoxify and encourage healing. Worn cartilage in the joints can be greatly improved with glucosamine and MSM in large quantities. The same is true for the prostate. In order to keep a healthy prostate or to improve the health of someone who has already developed symptoms one must be willing to detoxify chemicals from the prostate, create an environment that is not conducive to pathogens and supply the nutrients that are necessary for healing

MSM is the one product that will remove toxins from literally every cell in the body including the prostate. Indole -3-Carbinol with Diindolymethane (I-3-C with DIM) has been found in numerous scientific studies to block the industrial hormones from the receptor sites through out the body. Specific herbs have been used for years, with astounding results, in other countries to support the health of the prostate. Vitamins such as B, C and E along with the minerals calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, potassium and silicon are necessary for the maintenance of a healthy prostate. Chemicals cause free radical damage to the tinder cells that make up the prostate. Antioxidants such as Skull Cap Root, Hawthorne Berry, Small Willow Herb, Cranberry, Ginseng, Saw Palmetto, Lycopene, Milk Thistle, Shark Liver Oil, Phosphatidylcholine, Slippery Elm, Pumpkin Seed Extract, Nettle, Green Tea, Pygeum, Curcuma Longa, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Pine Bark Extract, Grape Seed Extract, Kelp, Onion Powder, Alfalfa Leaf Juice and Beta Sistosterol have proven to be very effective, especially when you take a wide variety of these antioxidants. There are essential fatty acids (EFA’s) such as the Omega 3 & 6 oils found in Borage, DHA, and EPA that soothe and help the healing process of the prostate. And finally as another part of prostate health you need Amino Acids, specifically L-Lysine, L-Glutamic Acid, L-Taurine, Glysine, L-Proline and Alanine. All these support the health of your prostate as well as the bladder, urinary tract and hormone production.

The previous suggestions should make a tremendous difference the same as they have for my 80-year-old father who had suffered for many years having to go to the bathroom as many as five times each night…In as little as six weeks on a variety of these supplements my father’s symptoms had all but disappeared.
